How can I retrieve attributes of an issue?

I have the following to retrieve the issues referenced on an item, but I don't know where to go from here. I'd like to inspect a particular attribute on the retrieved issue references.

issueRefsOnItem = itemToCheck.GetAllIssueRefs()

for issueRef in issueRefsOnItem:
