Summary of Supported Databases

The following SQL databases are currently supported by SystemWeaver:

SQLite
MS SQL Server (see Checklist for MS SQL and PostgreSQL Databases)
PostgreSQL (R53 and later. see Checklist for MS SQL and PostgreSQL Databases)
Oracle (only supported with SystemWeaver releases R52 and earlier)

SystemWeaver highly recommends using SQLite in part because of the performance advantages over the others.

SQLite Database

No latency as the SQLite file is stored on the SystemWeaver server.

Fastest start-up time.

No costs for additional hardware as the file is stored on the same server machine as the server application.

Runtime backup option provided.

The benefits of future optimization of SystemWeaver will be greater for systems running SQLite.

MS SQL Server vs PostgreSQL

If considering the use of MS SQL Server vs PostgreSQL, we recommend PostgreSQL as it performs about as well as SQLite, and much better than MS SQL.
